For many years, Mark Ritter compartmentalized his faith, thinking that science and Christianity were not compatible. One day he stumbled across a Reasons to Believe (RTB) television broadcast and was immediately hooked. He is now a volunteer apologist with RTB, and desires to help people discover the truth that the God of the Bible is the same God of creation, and that Scripture and science do not conflict.
Mark was born in Hollywood and raised in Southern California. He attended California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, earning his BS and MS in chemistry. He has taught science, including chemistry, biology, forensics, and astronomy, at both the high school and college levels. Mark currently teaches at Temecula Valley High School and is the faculty advisor for the school’s astronomy club. He is also adjunct professor of chemistry at Palomar College and Azusa Pacific University.
Mark is the president of Sword & Spirit ministries, a web-based Christian apologetics ministry geared toward teenagers and young adults. He also wrote for The Skies Above, an astronomy column for North County Times in San Diego County for 15 years, and has authored a booklet titled Start a Fire: A Brief Introduction to Christian Apologetics.
