A Step Beyond
There’s a wonderful letter in the God at Work through You section of this week’s digest from one of RTB’s younger supporters. At 15 years old, Cherie has been a tremendous breath of fresh air in her passion and enthusiasm for the mission and vision of Reasons to Believe. She has a voracious appetite for reading and was intently leafing through her new books during every break or mealtime at AMP Conference. Cherie’s life has motivated us at RTB to take our faith to the next level. Here’s what we’ve learned from her so far:
First and foremost, Cherie exhibits passion for seeking God. Whether it was one-on-one time with the speakers or devouring the knowledge from RTB’s materials, Cherie displayed a bottomless appetite to understand and experience God more deeply. We, too, can strive to grow closer to God.
Secondly, Cherie showed us how to accomplish this—by saying “yes” to more opportunities. She attends conferences, is brave in approaching speakers and scholars, gets her hands on any resources she can, and more. What opportunities (conferences, books, events, small groups, trips, etc.) are you overlooking? Contemplate the obstacles in your life that hold you back from saying “yes.” How could you clear those obstacles?
Lastly, Cherie inspires us to have vision. Relying on our own feelings to guide us will throw us to and fro, but having a clear vision from the Holy Spirit grounds us and helps us remain faithful.
Cherie is only 15 years old, but the wisdom we’ve gleaned from her life applies to people of all ages. It’s never too early to start seeking God—and it’s never too late, either.
