"Thank you for your interesting discussion of Christian views of ETI in the 2nd quarter issue of Facts & Faith.
"As a Christian artist, I have never been troubled by the possibility that we may be the only intelligent life in the vast universe. . . .
"It is not unusual for a painter to paint a huge canvas just so that he might bring the viewer's attention to a tiny important detail, which to the artist may be the most interesting part of the painting and the reason he painted it in the first place. The larger canvas provides context and perspective, and it comments on the important detail at the heart of the painting. . . ."
"God would not be out of character in focusing His creation on a single planet, placing that planet in a setting so vast that it makes an indelible statement to Earth's inhabitants about His character and power. . . . A loving, omnipotent, artistic God most assuredly could and would commit such an 'extravagance.'"

"I am recently born again. It's a long story, but Dr. Ross personally contributed to the process that brought me to the Lord. I had just started attending Horizon Christian Fellowship when Dr. Ross gave his first of three talks there. I am an engineer, and his descriptions of creation and other Genesis events and his answers to questions were so clear and believable that his talks were a tremendous blessing to me. I have figured out that God placed me here at exactly the right time for the combination of my frame of mind and the state of scientific knowledge. I was able to come to the second presentation also. I missed the third one but have all three on tape.
"I have some theological and scientific comments and questions, which I will submit through the proper mechanism.
