Reasons Institute - Faculty & Staff

All of the instructors involved with Reasons Institute are accomplished scholars. They also share a common conviction that the Bible is the error-free word of God, believe in Jesus Christ as their Creator and Savior, and adhere to RTB's Statement of Faith.

RTB Staff Scholars:

  • Hugh Ross, Ph.D. in astronomy, University of Toronto
  • Fuz Rana, Ph.D. in chemistry, Ohio University

 

Dean of Online Learning:

  • Krista Bontrager, M.A. in theology, M.A. in Bible Exposition, Talbot School of Theology, Th.M. in Exegetical Theology, Covenant Theological Seminary (in progress) 

 

Adjunct Instructors:

  • Erica Carlson, Ph.D. in physics, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)
  • Patrick McGuire, M.S. in mechanical engineering, University of New Mexico
  • Marj Harman, M.A. in apologetics, Simon Greenleaf School of Law

 

Online Instructors:

  • Stan Lennard, M.D. - Dr. Lennard is a general surgeon, with a subspecialty in surgical infectious disease (retired January, 2001).
  • Tom Maddux, M.A. - Mr. Maddux is a retired history teacher (2003) and has an M.A. in Apologetics from Biola University.
  • Greg Moore - Greg Moore is a graduate of Washington State University and works as the Water Conservation Manager for the city of Everett, WA. A certified RTB Volunteer Apologist since 2000, Greg was among the founding members of the Seattle chapter, which he now serves as president. Mr. Moore facilitates the "Multiverse 101" course for Reasons Institute.
  • Mark Perez, M.A. - Mr. Perez is the Deputy Chief for the Los Angeles Police Department. He has an M.A. in Philosophy (emphasis Philosophy of Science) from California State University, Los Angeles. He also received a California State University Certificate in Teaching Critical Thinking. Mr. Perez facilitates the "Critical Thinking Skills for the Christian" course for Reasons Institute.
  • Pastor William Smith - Pastor Smith is a full time elder, teacher, and preacher for White’s Ferry Road Church of Christ in West Monroe, LA. He is also one of the founders of the World Radio Ministry. Pastor Smith is the mentor for RTB's "Pastor's Mini-Course on Creation."

 

Course Coordinator:

  • Bob Stuart, D.C. - Dr. Stuart is retired from the U.S. Air Force, where he was trained in military intelligence. A change in occupational direction led to a career in chiropractic, where he headed up the physical therapy department at a medical group in Southern California. Bob is the online course coordinator for Reasons Institute and oversees training and management of an ever-expanding worldwide team of volunteer apologists.
