Standard Policy for Permission to Use or Reprint RTB Materials or Articles

Revised 3/24/2003

While Reasons To Believe appreciates the opportunity to give a broader range of distribution to our printed materials, we cannot give a "blanket" permission statement to anyone or any organization to cover use of our articles or materials, including all materials on our Web site. All requests must be submitted in writing for each article to the RTB office in California.

Our copyright arrangement with our publishers does not allow for copying or reprinting excerpts from Dr. Ross’s books in any form. We are able to post excerpts on the Web page because of our agreement with these organizations, but the excerpts are not to be copied or downloaded for personal use. Please refer to the Internet Resource Policy above. Articles or other materials may not be posted on any other Web site. Providing a link to our Web site is the appropriate way to give access to our materials through the Internet. For information on how to set up a link contact our webmaster at Webmaster@reasons.org.

Permission for photocopying articles from our magazines or Web site for personal use, such as giving to family members or friends or using in a small group setting, is usually allowed in small numbers. Contact our office for permission by mail.

We usually grant permission to reprint articles from our magazines or Web site provided the following conditions are met:

  • Write for permission to reprint for each article you wish to use, giving us the title, author, and specific issue in which it appeared. Please address your request to the attention of the Correspondence/Publications department at Reasons To Believe, P.O. Box 5978, Pasadena, CA, 91117. All requests must be in writing; no email requests will be considered. You may FAX your request to us at (626) 963-2493. Be sure to include your name and phone number.
  • State specifically how you intend to use the requested material.
  • At the bottom of the reprint provide the following copyright material:
    • © Copyright 1999 by Reasons To Believe, P.O. Box 5978, Pasadena, CA 91117. Reprinted with permission.
  • Make the reprint look as professional as possible.
  • The article must be printed in its entirety with no changes or additional comments added.
  • Any comments on the material or the information contained therein must be separate, with credit given to the author of the comments.
  • Send us a copy of the reprinted material or the publication in which it appears.
  • Any materials reprinted in another magazine or periodical must show where the material originally appeared (e.g. Hugh Ross, "The Haste to Conclude Waste," Facts & Faith, vol. 11, n. 3, (1997), pp. 1-3). It must give all relevant bibliographical information, i.e., the author, the name of the article, the name of the newsletter (or material), the issue, the date, and the page numbers.

Any exceptions to these guidelines must be approved in writing by the Publications Department. This policy was adopted to protect the quality of the materials distributed by Reasons To Believe, and to prevent the misrepresentation of the information contained therein.
