An interdisciplinary team performed the first long term integration of the solar system’s planetary orbits. They found the orbits of the four gas giant planets and the five inner solar system bodies (including the moon) appear to be designed to produce the just right variations in orbital parameters and the just right resonances among the planets in order to generate asteroid and comet collisions on Earth at the just right times and the just right frequency for the benefit of advanced life.
