Using the recently installed Advanced Camera for Surveys on the Hubble Space Telescope astronomers have discovered two more distant type Ia supernovae. These supernovae confirm that the universe’s expansion velocity transitioned from decelerating to accelerating six to seven billion years ago which strengthen the evidence for exquisite fine-tuning in the cosmic density parameters.
