New measurements of metals in the intra-galaxy-cluster medium validate an important design feature for the universe. Scientists found that protogroups and protoclusters of galaxies provide the most significant reservoirs of metals in the early universe. The slow release of these metals into galaxies for forming stars and planets permits the just-right stars and planets needed for life to form at the just-right time in cosmic history.
