Astronomers have determined that the remnants of isolated population III stars (the first stars to form) can be detected. Though long ago burnt out, such stars leave behind medium sized black holes that act as gravitational lenses. A new technology can uncover such lenses and the lens properties can confirm or deny what the big bang creation model predicts about the universe’s first stars.
